Minato “
A date between me and paper”

Exhibition “Minato” shows a collection of recent paper cutting collages from Jingxin Geng. The themes of the work are repetition, space and hierarchy. These multi-layered collages use geometric shapes as basic elements to form abstract grid/weave-like patterns.

Different from most grid works, Jingxin's grids are random and irregular. She insists on freehand paper carving, giving her works a sense of randomness within restraints. Repetition is Jingxin's way of looking at the world. Everything is a repetition and cycles of a primitive cell that multiplies and evolves itself.

Jingxin Geng (1975) is a Chinese-Norwegian artist living and working in Norway. She has an education in traditional figurative painting and drawing from China, contemporary art from Norway and had her master degree from the Art academy in Oslo in 2008.
